How Crab Shares Work

YOU ENROLL

Our Community Supported Fishery (CSF) is a members-based organization that allows you to purchase a “share” of the harvest of one of our independent, small-boat family crabbers. You enroll at 3, 4- or 5 -month intervals. Each share includes a specific selection of the crabs and other species that we harvest. In 2024, these species include Maryland blue hard crabs, soft shell crabs, crab cakes, rock fish bits and breaded oysters.

You have the option of paying for your share in full at the beginning of the season or spreading out your payments through monthly installments. Prices range depending on the species you choose and the quantity of share you choose.

As a share member, you’ll also have access to special sales, discounted annual enrollments, monthly newsletters, watermen events, recipes, cooking classes and our exclusive pop-up dinners with celebrated Eastern chefs.

THE CATCH OF YOUR CRABS

Crab Pot Depot has partnered with our local watermen and seafood processors to assist us with growing, harvesting, processing and distributing your seafood share. One of our crabber-owners catch your crab share with lots of love and care on the scheduled day of your shipment. Your assigned crabber family arrives each day with fresh wild caught crabs and shell-fish at our dock in Crisfield, Maryland. Our dock team receive the catch of the day and they are placed in refrigeration and handled by our professional staff as they steam your daily catch to lock in freshness for that great buttery taste.

DELIVERY FROM DOCK TO DOOR

Every month during our Maryland crabbing season, from the share option of your choice, you get a box of Maryland seafood hand-delivered right to your door by one of our affable and well-mannered Maryland Stewards or our friends of uPs . In keeping with our guiding principles, our Maryland Crab Shares goal is to return 1 percent of all CSF-related revenue back to fisheries conservation and habitat protection efforts. Our watermen owners receive a fairer wage for a day’s work, and together, we make the entire system more transparent and accountable, from the moment we ship your crab share, to the moment you sit down with your family or friends to enjoy the best blue crabs you’ve ever tasted.
